Director of Outreach and Community Engagement

Full-time (30-40 hrs/week)

JOB TITLE: Director of Outreach and Community Engagement 


POSITION PURPOSE:

The Director of Outreach and Community Engagement leads Grande Prairie Alliance Church (GPAC)’s local outreach ministries, builds strong community relationships, equips volunteers, and creates pathways for people to experience belonging and grow in discipleship. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on ministry involvement and plays a vital part in how GPAC serves the community. 


REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: 

  • Reports to: Adult Ministries Team Lead to the Executive Pastor and Lead Pastor
  • Works closely with: Executive Pastor, Adult Admin Support, Communications Ministry, volunteer leads, and church staff. 


EMPLOYMENT DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position status: Full-time (30-40 hrs/week)
  • Schedule: Requires a flexible schedule for weekly Pantry operations and occasional evening of weekend events. This is not a standard office-only role and may involve non-office hours to support ministry activities and urgent community needs. 
  • Eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.


KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:


Leadership & Outreach:

  • Develop and lead outreach strategy aligned with GPAC’s vision. 
  • Provide leadership for key ministries and initiatives (e.g. Faith In Deed, The Pantry, Alpha, seasonal outreach).
  • Evaluate ministry impact and identify new outreach opportunities. 


Community Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations and mission partners. 
  • Represent GPAC in community events, collaborative initiatives (e.g. Operation Christmas Child), and local networks. 
  • Support church-led response to community needs and emergencies. 


Volunteer Leadership & Development:

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders and teams. 
  • Foster a Christ-centered, healthy, and growing volunteer culture. 
  • Assist in volunteer roles as needed. 


Care & Discipleship:

  • Oversee client support processes, such as budget planning. 
  • Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and mentorship for ministry community clients. 
  • Help individuals connect to church life and discipleship pathways using practical discipleship tools. 


Administration & Communication:

  • Manage and oversee outreach budgets and the Benevolent Fund. 
  • Track outcomes and report on ministry impact. 
  • Partner with staff and Communications Ministry to promote initiatives and celebrate stories of life change. 


QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ who supports and reflects GPAC's mission, vision, and values.
  • Experience in ministry, working with vulnerable populations, outreach, or nonprofit leadership. 
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and build relationships. 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Alignment with The Alliance Canada’s official statement of faith, social matters, and ecclesiastical matters. 
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
